Lewis Hamilton has set the pace yet again this morning on the second day of pre-season testing in Barcelona.
His time of 1:20.983 around the Circuit de Catalunya was nearly two seconds faster than the rest of the pack. Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen was second fastest this morning lapping 1:22.831, 1.8 seconds off Hamilton. Esteban Ocon got his first taste of a competitive session with Force India and was third fastest followed by Haas’ Kevin Magnussen and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, both separated by .012 seconds.
Problems hampered Renault and Jolyon Palmer this morning but with the evening practice session currently underway, the mechanical issues have been dealt with and Palmer is currently setting timed laps.
Eighteen-year-old debutant Lance Stroll managed 12 laps this morning and sat 5 seconds off the pace while fellow F1 novice and Ferrari reserve driver Antonio Giovinazzi completed just 5 laps with Sauber.
